Before the site crashed there was a question asking who the officers were on board a particular cruise, and one of the replies asked - why does it matter.
Fair enough, but, having visited six of the seven ships in quick succession one of the things that has come across to me is how different they all are, especially the crews and atmosphere on board.
I'm not saying that anyone was unhelpful particularly - just that some were much more helpful than others and this came shining through to the public areas as well.
This has to be led from the top, so, IMO anyway - yes it does matter!
Not sure what others feel.

I used to be puzzled when people said what a friendly ship Oceana is, surely it is about the crew and passengers onboard at the time. However having just come back off Oceana I have to agree with this. It was exactly the same as when we were on her 2 years ago. The service was excellent, the waiters pleasant, we had a great cabin steward, and all very professional but friendly.
I feel the crew on Arcadia were always helpful and friendly but couldn't say the same for Azura. As you say Sharon, it has to come from the top.

Interesting Sharon - we have Arcadia on Thursday - but Azura yesterday was absolutely fantantasic as regards access to areas (laundry etc), crew, friendliness - especially bearing in mind we are visiting on their busiest days - turnaround day!
I wonder if people have changed since you were on board?

I would have thought alot of the crew would have changed as we did the transatlantic last october and a lot of the crew said they were getting off when we got to barbados.

I remember on Arcadia, the guy would come on and say 1st or 2nd sitting is now ready and he would alway's have a joke and laugh over the tannoy. It alway's made me smile.
The only time I found a member of the crew really miserable was in the Belvedere buffet. He happened to be doing the toast and seemed to be grumpy every morning and when I asked for my toast to be well done, he alway's make a big sigh!

I always feel grumpy in a morning when asked for toast--or is it happy. One of them
