Just back from the New Forest where we had a chill-out week in the unbelievably mild November weather!
Whilst there, I went for a walk along Hurst Spit, a narrow shingle spit just outside Milford on Sea. I was quite surprised to see how narrow the channel is between the end of this spit and the Isle of Wight. It has been many years since we sailed through this on a cruise ship but it made me understand why, with so many big ships using Southampton, they no longer use that side of the Island to sail in/out of Southampton.
