We've just booked today to go on the A208 on Azura in April with my boyfriend, my brother, and my parents. We've requested a table for 6 as you can't ask for a table for 5, however we are unsure what will happen with the 6th space- will they stick a single on there, or leave it free?

We wouldn't mind a random on the table, but I'd feel bad for them if the 5 of us were family! Surely they put singles on tables with other singles?

Has anyone ever been on P&O in a group of 5 before?

We alway book a table for 4 and theres only 3 of us so they leave the other place empty, Not sure what they'd do on a larger table.

I am afraid as a single --I would hate to be put with a family --it happened once a long time ago --and they totally ignored me !!I asked to be moved after two nights of my own company !!

I hope you enjoy your cruise !!

Thanks all, that's what I would have assumed. We would of course be more than welcoming were a single put on our table, but it would still be a bit awkward for all involved I think!

They might give you a table of 8 and add 3 more people, but hopefully will just leave it as a table for 5! Have a great cruise.

Our first cruise we were 3 and put on a table for 6 with another 3 some. Worked well. Next cruise we were a party of 6, asked for a particular table but as it was an 8 were given the 6 next to it.

Another cruise we were on a table for 8 and 4 were two couples - worked well.

Another cruise we joined a table for 8 with 5 already there. The odd man out was Ray, the CofE Chaplain who had been boarded for the Easter service. He was not the only priest onboard but they obviously split them up.

Opt for what you need - table for 6 - and they will in all consciousness leave you alone.

I've been the only single with a family of three - the other two seats weren't taken until an officer joined us halfway through the cruise. It was not my best table - they were welcoming and chatty enough but on two nights went to dine elsewhere leaving me on my own.

When I read your question yesterday, I thought I had not experienced this...then I remembered at 3 o'clock this morning (the joys of insomnia!)

I was with my parents, so we were a 3 and they put us on a table for 6 but with a couple only, so effectively 5 of us.

Oh that must have been awful. I remember once a lady asking to be moved for the same reason. She came and sat with us....we were 3+2+2+ herself.
